The world of communications has changed dramatically in the recent decades. It seems that it was ever so recently that cell phones were unheard of, and were only for the military or the rich and famous. Now it’s simply unheard of for someone to not have a cell phone.
You can also see the vaste improvement in the quality of the mobile devices that we now use. Think for a moment about the first cell phone that you ever got. Now compare that to the one that your now carrying around in your pocket. Do you notice how far technology has come in recent years?
We can also think about the time whenever people could only communicate through morse code. The only other way to communicate with someone far away was by using the mail. This was back when mail was carried by horseback, so it took much longer for mail to be received. In today’s society you can simply send an email and the person will receive it literally seconds later on their phone.
We’ve also seen a huge advancement in video chatting. There are even hospitals and doctors offices where you can stand in the office and talk to your doctor via video chat while he/she’s somewhere else.
I remember that recently there was a surgery that was done in which the doctor did the surgery from hundreds of miles away with the help of video cameras and robotic arms. It’s amazing to see how far technology has come and to anticipate what we have in store for the future.
